About Cathy D. Hampton

Cathy D. Hampton, a graduate of Spelman College and Harvard Law School, has led law departments and advised large private and public organizations for more than two decades. She started her legal career as an international finance associate in the New York and London offices of Shearman & Sterling, where she counseled publicly-traded companies in banking, aviation and telecommunications. She then served in positions of increased responsibility and leadership at the National Basketball Association, Turner Broadcasting System and EarthLink. She led successful law departments as Chief Legal Officer for RARE Hospitality and the City of Atlanta. Cathy D. Hampton splits her time between Ameritech Facility Services as an Independent Corporate Director and Sales Committee Chair with the corporate practice team at the international law firm of Womble Bond Dickinson.

Throughout her career, Ms. Hampton has earned multiple honors and awards in recognition of her exemplary leadership, legal acumen and community service. The Atlanta Business Chronicle named her the Outstanding General Counsel for a Large Organization, and the Fulton County Daily Report awarded her team the In-House Legal Department of the Year honor. She chaired the Corporate Counsel Section of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Women's Foundation Economic Justice Initiative and served on the Georgia Chief Justice's Committee on Professionalism, the Federal Communications Commission Intergovernmental Advisory Committee, the Atlanta Women's Entrepreneurship Initiative Board and the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority. Cathy Hampton is admitted to practice in New York, Georgia and the District of Columbia.

She received the Distinguished Alumna Award from the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College and is an honoree of Rotary International, the Trumpet Awards Foundation, Who’s Who In Black Atlanta, the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, Women Looking Ahead Magazine and Ebony Magazine. A member of the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2003, she served as Vice Chair of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and on the boards of VOX Teen Communications and the Women's Resource Center.
